I recently changed my phone and i needed new wireless earphone. Up until now i always bought cheap earphones, but seeing the reviews on this earphone i decided to give it a go. The sound is amazing, i can ear instruments i had never heard on some songs and i very clearly hear the lyrics. It is something i was not expecting at all. The charging time is alright for me and the bluetooth easy to connect. It might look a bit fragile though i wonder if it is really the case: i fell asleep with it around the neck and it did not break. On the plus side: i love the colour. My only complaint would be on the battery life, i wish it had 2 hours extra. At least it turns off by itself if it is not playing music/ connected and you forgot to do it.
Use these on my early morning walk, it has been too hot to use my on-ear headphones but these are great and cool on the ears. Light weight and easy to use once you get used to the controls. The sound is excellent with good base response, battery life is more or less as stated and quite quick to charge. The voice information is good too telling you if the batteries are low and informing you of pairing mode or switching off. All in all a great set of wireless headphones and at half price excellent value.
Very pleased with these, much better than the beyerdynamic byron wireless earphones i bought earlier and which had poor bluetooth connection. These maintain a much better connection, i can’t recall a single drop out since i got them. Super sound from them as well, much much better than the airpods i bought (and gave to my son quickly after) and the controls on the neck band are convenient. Very comfortable to wear as well although i’d like the headphone leads to be an inch or so longer for better clearance when worn inside a shirt/coat but that is a minor quibble. Battery life is good as well although there is no ‘low battery’ warning alert so they can just shut down on you. Usefully though, sony give you a connection lead with the pack that can be plugged straight into your mobile (if it has a dedicated headphone jack) and normal service is then resumed. Over the past 2/3 years i have used wireless headphones from jaybird, beyerdynamic, apple and sony and these are without doubt the best for the overall combination of sound quality and maintaining a connection at all times.
But then, for an rrp of 150 notes (without active nc) you would expect it to be. Physically they don’t feel like a premium product – the plastic is lightweight and flimsy feeling. I replaced the latex earbuds with memory foam ones and the phones are more comfortable, but still. If you can get them for 60 quid, as they were on a recent prime deal, i think that’s a fair price.
I have reviewed a few sets of bluetooth earphones in the past 6 months, and these are definitely among the best. The sound quality is excellent, and the build quality is too. The neck band does an excellent job of keeping the earpieces in place, and the cables are more than long enough to prevent any pulling of the wires when exercising. One of the features i really like is the micro-usb charging port on the underside of the band, meaning that most mobile phone chargers can be used to power up the device, and no product specific cradles or cables are needed. Ideal for when you run out of power when travelling. A downside of this is that you cannot use the headset when charging, so once your eight hours is up, then you have to wait quite a while before the device is fully charged again. For future iterations of this product, a shorter recharge time would be much appreciated. Connecting these earphones to my nfc enabled phone was very easy with the sony ‘headphones’ app available on google’s play store. Whilst this isn’t an essential feature, it adds to the overall ease of use compared to the competition. The equaliser feature included on the app is a nice addition, as the stock sound come across as a little flat.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Simply the best. Nothing matches this at this price for wireless fidelity Hi Res or Standard Res
- Excellent sound clarity
- Very pleased with these
First and foremost the sound quality is very good, easily on par with the bluetooth headphones i’ve used in this price range. Some flexibility is enabled with the app, and it all works seamlessly, from pairing to tweaking the output to your preference. There’s no ambient hum or extraneous noise on bluetooth, and the connection hasn’t dropped once in the 20+ hours i’ve been using these over the last two weeks. As far as i can tell the “hi res audio” element is only really applicable with sony’s own walkman devices, or some xperia models, so as an iphone user i can’t speak to the quality of that. Seems unusual as the “for android/ios” labelling on it, but still, whatever quality level i’m getting is very good all the same. The neckband is a very unusual design. The section that sits against the back of your neck is rubberized and feels comfortable and secure, while the ‘legs’, one of which has the controls, are a more rigid plastic. The earbuds are on relatively short wires, meaning that there’s little to no tangling and you’re not contending with excessive cables when using the headphones. It’s got a neat vibrate feature when you receive a call, but that’s where the appeal ends for me. There’s a real issue with the neckband when you’re wearing certain clothes – for instance any coat that covers the neck, or a scarf.
It’s good headphone and what i was expecting. I do recommend to everybody.
Good quality earphones as expected from sony. The quality of sound is very decent and i would say comparable to a similarly priced sennheiser and the like. The sound is warm, rich and balanced which allows you to enjoy a good variety of music. The earphones are sturdy and well built. These earphones even come with its own app that can be downloaded from the app store and you can use it to equalise sound, which is a nice addition. Not sure i will be using it too heavily because the inbuilt itunes equaliser probably does the job for me but for those, who are looking for a more customised sound, this is a great thing to have. The only reason why i am giving these earphones 4 stars rather than 5 is because the design is still a little bulkier than i would have liked. It would be nicer to have them a bit more discreet and fast charging wouldn’t hurt either. Instead, it’s taken me several hours to charge these earphones to full battery. That aside, it’s a good quality product and i think generally worth the money.
Excellent, can’t fault, highly recommend for quality and sound.
Update: one month in and the headphones have failed. The buttons stopped responding properly and the unit would not power off until disconnected from bt. Further factory resets and fiddling showed the buttons to be ok but the ‘logic’ of how they worked when paired to a device was going wrong. Returning to amazon (who make this difficult after one month, but if you know how to contact customer service they will take them back) and have re-ordered the same model (now cheaper) in the hope they work better and this is a one off fault. I’ve had these headphones for a week and used them for maybe 5 hours so i can’t fairly comment on battery life beyond noting that the indicator in android seems to go from 100% to 50% without any in-between levels. The sound is however something else for these ‘sports’ earbuds. These sonys sound *clean*, *clear* and have comfortable and realistic bass. I regularly use their over-ear mdr-1abt model and there is definitely a family resemblance within the constraints of basic physics and driver size. I also have westone 4r earbuds – but can’t use those wirelessly very well and nuraphones – both ‘better’ in their own way but not so much so that i feel left out or that i’m downgrading when using these. I’ve been through a whole slew of them recently having bought the now discontinued leophile eels which stopped charging after a year but were otherwise ok to some cheap skullcandy ones where the bluetooth range was about 30cm and they stopped charging after a week to the truly terrible sounding taotronics ones.
Being worn across the neck makes this ‘sony wireless stereo headset’ a sort of cross between traditional headphone and earbuds. The set may not be as comfortable as over the ears headphones but it seems to be held more securely in place than ‘normal’ earbuds, and it incorporates controls on the neck-band. It has the capability to link by bluetooth or directly with jack connection. A lead is provided for this, and there is also a usb-micro charging cable, and there are spare earbuds. A useful magnetic clip keeps l and r earphone cables together. Initially operation appears complex, but in addition to detailed written instructions with technical specification (in many languages) there is an illustrated ‘quick-start’ sheet (without words) that makes setting up and use fairly straightforward. Nfc (near field communication) supposedly makes connecting simple, but it is just as easy with bluetooth. The set may be used with iphone and android mobiles, and the neck-band vibrates when receiving a call. Charging time is 2 to 3 hours, to give play-time of up to 8 hours – and a stand-by time of 180 hours is claimed. Most importantly sound quality and balance is excellent over a wide treble-bass range, yet if required there is an ‘app’ available to permit greater equalising of sound.
Great sound, comfortable and reliable connection.
Ear series wireless in-ear high resolution with 8 hours battery life is one excellent set of headphones which are so comfortable to wear plus the audible quality of sounds is pure and excellent. I love these for both my audible books as well as my music as it allows me to hear everything so clear. The fit of the headphones is very important as i wear them over a period of time as i would wear them while doing my housework or even simply out walking, these are a great fit of earphones. I love how sony has included a magnet on the actual wires which keeps them tidy around my neck when not in use. The pairing of the headphones and my xperia phone was nearly immediate, i did this with and without the sony headphone app and in both instances, this was done quickly and very easily. I like using the app as it tells me how much battery charge i have left on my headphone which is very handy if i am heading out and about and want to know will i have enough charge left. You are also able to change the surround sound, there is also an equalizer control which provides different settings for whatever you are listening too or what mood your music selection is. As well as this there is a sound quality mode and other settings. Sony has certainly thought of everything when designing this top class set of headphones, from the comfort of wearing them even over a period of time to the excellent sound quality, the settings and so much more.
These wireless headphones cost far more than i would usually pay but now i realise that you really do get what you pay for. They are well designed, sound great and easy to set up – even for a technophobe like me.
Fabulous sound quality and good connection. Sit comfortably on the neck with not issues.
Not particularly powerful bass but for classical music its good. Its best described as a ‘pleasant’ sound – not bright or aggressive. I can use them for an hour without feeling ear fatigue. You can use the app and its equaliser to adjust the sound settings – but only if you use ldac on low quality setting ( ‘priority on stable connection’ ). Which is pretty much the same quality as standard bluetooth. So rather defeats the object of having ldaci’ve stuck therefore to ldac on maximum quality and forgone the ability to use the equaliser. I use these mostly in bed to listen to soothing classical music when i can’t sleep. The issue is the led light on the headphones blinks very brightly at 5 second intervals. And in the dark its very noticeable and distracting.
Great sound quality from the sony stables.
The lookthese headphones have a great minimal design, they’re really pleasing to the eye and equally nice to wear. They have soft touch rubber on the neck band, paired with classic matte effect metal. I was sent the gold pair for trial, though all the colours look amazing. The neck band is gently flexible on the bit which sits on the back of your neck. This makes the headphones loose (on me anyway, a slim female) and comfy to wear and take on / off, even with my long hair down. There is an l and r on each side of the headphones so you can’t put it on the wrong way round. The neck band is worn like a back-to-front necklace, not on your head like traditional headphones. Initial setupwhen you switch the headphones on there is a red and blue flashing dot. I initially thought this was for when it’s running low on charge but actually means it it’s waiting to be paired with a device. I don’t have a nfc device so went through the usual bluetooth procedure which was very straightforward on my iphone.
These sound pretty good for bluetooth phones, decent depth and bass. The battery life is not quite as good as i would like – a whole day of listening in the office is a stretch. Still, well worth the £99 i paid for them.
Before i get into what has irked me about these headphones i’ll comment about the most important thing – the sound. If sound quality matters to you above everything else (and it should) go buy these now, you really won’t regret it. Nothing i tested came close to them. I do have some issues with the design though (such as the plastic neckband) so read on if you want the complete picture. Reviewi tested numerous headphones before settling on these. The highly acclaimed sony mdr-xb950b1s, akg y50bts, jaybird x3’s and beatsx; they all have followings and fans but the h. 700’s easily beat all of them in terms of sound quality. I think this is in no insignificant part thanks to the dsp technology sony have packed into these earphones, and which you unlock via the sony ‘headphones connect’ app – we finally get sony’s renowned clearbass and eq tech on our iphones, whoo hoobeing able to customise sound to your taste is a huge deal. Don’t bother buying headphones that don’t allow you to because sound is very subjective and everyone has different tastes and preferences, there simply isn’t a right or wrong.
The sony wi-h700 headphones sound fantastic, and are light and comfortable too, making them the best wireless in-ear headphones i hold. The challenge is that the battery just dies so u may not get a heads up. I may have missed the warning but it means that if you miss the warning you end up with an ornament once before it dies. Again great sound perfect for sproting or cycling.
