Philips M2BTBK Fidelio Wireless Bluetooth Headphone – : Great sound. The controls ake a bit of getting

Excellent sound quality, simple intuitive controls and a firm, comfortable fit – i use them constantly and they’re great.

When connected via bluetooth the playback is not flawless, it can skip/jump sometimes.

Excellent , much better than expected, sound very good, very high quality build, good bluetooth connection.

Work great for music and phone.

Easy to use and good quality.

Philips M2BTBK Fidelio Wireless Bluetooth Headphone – Black : Quality of these cans are excellant on my sony mobile using bluetooth, clear and weighty sound if you have aptx on your phone.

Bought as a present to replace a set that had been broken. It is reported that they are very good headphones used by an outside runner.

In this review i compare the m2bts for audio quality with my current favourites, the optoma ne800m wired in-ear phones and the sennheiser momentum 1. 0 wired closed back around ear headphones. Both of those headphones are wired and don’t have bluetooth. Although the m2bts are sold as bluetooth 4. 0 aptx headphones they can also work as wired headphones, so the comparison used bluetooth and wired connections. The m2bts have the bluetooth and volume controls on the right ear cup, along with the mic for phone calls and a mini-usb charging socket. On the right ear cup are the bluetooth nfc pairing area and a 3. 5mm stereo socket for the alternative wired connection. Charging and wired connection leads are provided, the wired connection is cloth covered and doesn’t catch on clothing even on a rowing machine in the gym – a nice detail. Both leads are a tight fit and the 3.

Great sound quality when used with the cable. Seems reliable when used with bluetooth. When used wirelessly to watch video with an apple ipad there is a delay on the sound so the sound is out of sync with the picture which is annoying. This is remedied by using the cable instead of wireless.

I’ve had these for a few months now. They sound excellent (used with a couple of different android devices supporting aptx & one basic pc dongle without), but have occasional bluetooth glitches & i never got nfc to work with my htc m8. They are comfortable for even a couple of hours’ wear. Their close fit on the ears gives good isolation but tends to transmit the thud of jogging feet. Overall 5/5 audio but lose a star for less than perfect bluetooth connectivity.

Very well made, sound great, nice light and comfortable. What hifi gave them 5 out of 5 and rightly so.

Beside the fact of the mic not picking you low voice in comparing to your back ground noise plus the echo during phonecall , you can not go wrong with these very elegant , on ear , really nice reducing noise and leaking , sound quality over bluetooth you will be shocked to hear without a cable and you can use it with its included cable which for me felt better than the sbc and haven’t tried it yet in aptx. If you don’t aim to use the mic , you will like em so much and everyone around you too.

Fantastic sound bluetooth can be a bit sensitive (cuts out) but worthy of recommendations by different magazines.

I have had these for a good few months now and i will admit i use them fairly often. I can’t help but find myself sync’d up to my phone, spotify on, just listening to music no matter what i’m doing. And damn does the music sound great with these. They don’t sit too tight but are stable enough to not budge during most activities. Perfect for long wearing periods. I do shift work and occasionally i will wear these for 12 hours solid. The battery actually lasts a full shift, and then some.

One of the best headphones ever without doubt. Easy connectivity, goes loud, lovely bass. If your a glasses wearer like me, the do press into your ears that bit more as there on ear headphones and get a little hot over time. These little niggles aside, they are up there amongst the best sounding and best portable headphones i’ve ever had. Simply put, i love these headphones. . And who can explain love??.

The ear pads have just started to come apart at the seams. My headphones are 18 months old. I use them 5 days a week during my lunch hour. I always store them in the supplied pouch. Suddenly last month one ear pad started tearing. Then, 2 weeks later the other tore as well. It’s a shame you cannot get replacement ear pads. The bluetooth connectivity has worsened in the last few months with my sony xperia 8 inch pad and my new samsung s7 edge. I have always enjoyed the sound performance and fit.

I’ve purchased this headphones based on great reviews in stuff, what wifi, amazon and so on, but i found a very big problem with the call quality via bluetooth on my iphone 6 and also on my brand new macbook pro retina display. The phone call quality on skype and viber via bluetooth on the mac is really, really bad. When i use the cable the sound is fantastic . I’m really, really surprised that i could not use this otherwise great headphones for phone calls with the bluetooth at all ???.The quality with the cable is not a problem. I tried to see if i do something wrong, but it is really in my opinion the bluetooth only for listening music. Maybe the new beats solo 2 wireless can do a better job with the mac and the iphone 6 calls.

Bought as a birthday present for my daughter. Uses them running and at the gym and absolutely loves them. Special birthday, money well spent.

They’ve won lots of awards for good reason.

The controls ake a bit of getting used too and can be a bit fiddly. They are very comfortable and have a quality feel.

Very nice build quality, light but durableheadband is just a little bit too tight for me so wearing comfort is not the best (hence -1 star) but i can still easily wear these for 8h straight. Suitable for outside and home use: using these for pc gaming with a modmic and taking them with me when going outside. Basically i spent most of the day wearing these beauties. Audio is crystal clear with balanced highs and mids especially when listening lossless music with the 3. That said the bluetooth sound quality isn’t that bad either, these are best sounding portable bluetooth headphones i have tried.

I was extremely impressed with both sound and build quality but, sadly, video/audio synchronisation was way off. A pity as i would have enjoyed these headphones.

I have bought 2 different pairs of these due to the brilliant sound quality, but the pads will come apart at which point you will contact philips because you will be unable to find genuine replacements. When you speak to philips they will tell you that this model hasn’t been made for sometime and despite the fact that this model is readily available in the market place they have no spare parts available. I have bought bose headphones in the past and genuine replacement parts are readily available. My advice is do not buy philips products as they are not interested in after sales care. Amazon deserves a mention for great customer service, despite being out of warranty i have received a full refund which i then re invested in a pair of bang and olufsen headphones from amazon due to their great customer service. Thanks customer service department.

I bought my m2’s back in 2014 ( just under 3 yrs ago ) to go with my new tv. I know everyone says ‘ohh i only used them a few times etc. I really have used these no more that 5 separate times and since then they have sat on a glass shelf under my tv. Can you imagine my total disappointment when i picked these up last month to see the state they were in (not quite as bad as the pictures show here, because even without using them. The leather has continued to come away)i contacted customer service today who told me there were no philips replacements but instead gave me a link on here (amazon) for a 3rd party who make replacement covers. That’s how bad it isphilips. . If you are having these really bad reviews about a product related manufacturing flaw. Then you should be addressing the issue by making them available and at least offer to provide replacement ear pads free of chargewow. I’d be happy to hear what philips have to say about this too. There are reviews all over the web about this issue tooit’s a real shame, because other than this. . Ok … there are a few niggles with bt pairing. The sound quality ( bang for your buck ) is right up there with the best of the rest.

So many bad reviews on here and let me say they are not wrong. I normally research products pretty well and was convinced by the very high rating these got especially for sound quality. It’s true the sound quality is great, but the build is terrible. 18 months after purchase they don’t charge. Battery or cabling is faulty and now they’re dead and useless. Nearly two hundred pounds for earphones that don’t last a year and a half absolute rubbish. No refund because they’re out of warranty. Save your money and get something better instead.

Sound good but very uncomfortable , i managed to flex the headband over a couple of days i was very nervous of breaking them & they now fit ok. The fake leather ear pads are very poor quality the left one lasted about 10 months before the first split & after another 4 months its flapping around & only attached at the top the right one is still intact but is fraying looking far worse than my wife’s cheap 5 year old headphones. Phillips amazon store sells replacement ear pad replacement’s for £14. 95 for each ear that’s £29. 90 for a pair of rubbish quality ear pads. Philips original part 996580009111 – right ear cushion assembly for fidelio headphonesthey don’t deserve 1 star & i am not prepared to pay phillips £30 every year for replacement ear pads. I will never buy anything from phillips again.

I give an extra star only for the sound quality which is pretty good but the package as a whole is disappointing. The build quality is pretty dismal for headphones of this price. The side controls feel cheap plastic and not that solid or responsive. I can confirm the delicate nature of the ear pads which can split quite easily. I bought these at the time because they had a whathifi award and thought that they couldn’t be that bad. I wish i had returned them straight away. You know what i’m taking a star away because just writing this has annoyed me. Philips stick to overpriced light bulbs it looks like a license to print money.

  12. 1.0 out of 5 stars ... year ago as the control button stopped working and like many other people the glue holding the earpads together ... says:

This review is from : Philips M2BTBK Fidelio Wireless Bluetooth Headphone – Black

I have had these for a year and a half but stopped using them a year ago as the control button stopped working and like many other people the glue holding the earpads together unbounded so rendering them useless. The control button broke from very light use and is unfixable, i could still use them by using the controls on my phone so it was a annoyance. When i tried to fix them i was surprised how fragile the control mechanism on the pcb was and could see it had points of weekends where it eventually failed. Then the earcuffs compleately fell to bits along the seams, at first i thought they had torn but on closer inspection they had actually completely come unstuck. Apparently the first generation m1 had the same problem and many people have posted on the internet that their m2btbk headphone earpads have also come unstuck so it would appear it is a manufacturing flaw. Philips is well aware of this problem but will not accept any responsibility in the matter and have told people it’s too bad as they are out of warranty. Considering the m2s are part of their premium phidelio range and cost £250 you would expect better quality or at least more care on philips part. I assume they use the same manufacturing process for all similar earpads so would not trust the quality of any headphones from philips anymore, add the terrible customer service and i would say avoid philips products like the plague, i will not be buying any philips products again.

I’ll keep this brief, i bought a pair of these headphones expecting them to be pretty good based on the reputation of the m1’s and to be fair the sound quality was awesome, however the quality of the ear pads was absolutely atrocious and they fell to bits in no time due to very poor quality vinyl welding, which then resulted in having to use ever increasing amounts of sticky tape. Now that would not really be such a big deal if you could actually buy replacement ear pads but you can’t or at least i could’t find any. So in the end i gave them to my son and bought a pair from a different brand instead, if i’m honest i probably won’t buy philips again.

Ear pads are falling apart as they use weak glue. Got replacement headphones on warranty, but they are also falling apart within a week. Just get some other brand, there are many good alternatives. Going on ebay to get some chinese replacement pads, which will undoubtedly will be miles better than the originals.

    • 2.0 out of 5 stars Awful bluetooth connection says:
Whilst the sound quality on these is pretty good, the bluetooth connection is shocking and has deteriorated over the past 15 months to the point where its near unusable wirelessly. For a while, the bluetooth has been messed up, causing audio to crackle like mad when connected to my phone or laptop (tried many phones, many laptops, always the same) until i unpair and repair. This happens about a third of the time that i use them. Now, there’s just no sound whatsoever every single time i turn them on unless i unpair and repair. Additionally, the build quality isn’t great, as one of the cups split open a couple months ago despite not a lot of usage. 2 stars, as wired still works (not what i bought it for but oh well) and the sound quality is decent when they worked.

  16. 1.0 out of 5 stars Good sound - Bad build quality says:
The sound quality on these headphones is actually superb, but they are sadly let down by abysmal build quality. They feel very cheaply built and fragile. I purchased these in january 2015 and the foam has started to burst through the seams in the pads. Thankfully philips seemed quite understanding and sent me replacement pads for free but this has put me off philips headphones from now on. The bluetooth support in a joke. Takes about 10 minutes to connect to my iphone 7 plus and after that, the music stops and starts due to a dodgy bluetooth connection. The amount of times i’ve had to forget and re-pair these headphones is beyond a joke. Philips blamed the device but it’s not the device as every other device i have has the same issue. I would recommend that these headphones are avoided as they’re rubbish.

    • 3.0 out of 5 stars Great sound, but 1 huge problem says:
First of all i wanna say that i have tried alot of headphones and these are some of my favorite. I compared them to the 350£ (300$) b&o h7, and the philips are nearly as good, but for under half the price. The headphones have really great sound with deep punchy bass, but not boomy like beats. Mids are good and the highs are crisp and lovely. So overall the sound is fantastic, and i really enjoy listening to these. Now to the bad, which in my opinion ruins the experience of the headphones. The bluetooth is really bad. First time pairing was fine with the nfc-pairing, but when i went to pair them again the next day it was nearly impossible. First i tried connecting them via bluetooth, but it just wouldn’t connect. I tried turning off the headphones and then on again, but it didn’t work.

Having read numerous reviews, i bought these from amazon. The sound quality is crisp, well balanced and tonally accurate. They are moderately comfortable to wear but usage for an hour or so is fine. However, these are covered only under a one year warranty and after 13 months of only moderate usage (around two hours each week) the material started to disintegrate on one cup. One month later, the other side also began to show wear and tear. After 16 months from purchase, both cups were now a mess of material with seams detached all around. I contacted amazon, and their response was exemplary. Despite being out of warranty, and having seen the images, they sent me a replacement pair the next day, free of charge.

Positives firstsound quality is excellentphilips customer service was excellentnegativesbluetooth pairing is awful – i get a connection to my windows 10 laptop about 50% of the time. Thought maybe a driver issue but according to philips customer service these headphones were not designed for laptops or pc’s, they were made for smart phones and tablets, yet they dont advertise that fact when selling them. This would have been a deal breaker for me if i had known, and i suspect philips know this, which is why they rejected my review on there website. I’m astounded that they would make these without windows devices in mind when thats a huge slice of the market not catered for. Build quality – the reason i know philips customer service are excellent is because i had to have my first pair of headphones replaced due to the leather speaker covers splitting anf comming apart at the seams, after only 3 montha of infrequent usage. Also the volume rocker would get stuck in place so id either get a full blast or silence in my ears. To be fair to philips i contacted them about it and with minimal fuss they sent replacementsoverall i give 2 stars, 1 for sound quality, 1 for philips customer service. But i feel the bluetooth pairing is a deal breaker for most people – ives had much cheaper headphones that perform much better in terms of bluetooth connection.

Had these a few months now and i’ve decided to sell them on ebay. Suggest that anyone wanting to buy these should try them so they’re so damn uncomfortable. First, the good:i should say i’m not an audiophile and i mainly use headphones for watching tv shows and movies on the tube and the walk from my house to the station. I had a very cheap pair of philips bluetooth headphones and was looking to upgrade as i often found i couldn’t hear what was being said in the shows i watched, especially on a noisy tube or busy road. Well these do a great job of cutting out external noise. They don’t eliminate the sound of the train completely but just enough to turn it into a gentle hum. Voices of people talking next to me were nearly eliminated. Similarly with sounds of traffic – cuts it enough to stop it being a nuisance but not so much as to make it dangerous. Looks wise i think they are far better looking than beats, sony and even bose headphones, which all look very plastic to me for the price tags. These look like a beautiful set of speakers.

2016 (updated)very poor qc from philips (big shame as the sound is solid). The rocker button on the headphones broke and i returned for a refund. I ordered a brand new replacement but that turned out faulty – loud hissing noise on the right hand side of the earphone (i suspect it’s the amp). Very disappointed and reordered a replacement. 2016before buying these make your device is apt x enabled otherwise the sound can be poor. These are excellent headphones and an improvement to the corded version (m1mkii – which i also have).

Won’t pair with an iphone, ipad, mac; it doesn’t even appear in a list of devices available to pair, even though my other bluetooth devices are working perfectly.

  26. 1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY! Fantastic Sounding Headphones With Awful Build Quality says:

This review is from : Philips M2BTBK Fidelio Wireless Bluetooth Headphone – Black

Please tread with caution if considering buying these headphones. Although they sound great, especially for a wireless pair, the build quality is absolutely dreadful and philips have shown no interest in replacing my pair, especially when you can see from various reviews that there are inherent manufacturing defects. When successfully paired the sound quality can be fantastic, however, unfortunately this is usually following a period of a few minutes of distorted, broken sound as the headphones try and pair happily with my iphone, meaning long periods of silence or broken sound before working (tested on two pairs). Please also bear in mind that these are designed for smaller heads; although i don’t have a very large head, i have these set at almost the largest setting and they still exhibit and almost vice-like grip on my head which can get quite painful with prolonged use. The on-ear nature of the pads also means hot, sweaty ears after a short amount of timethe real issue has been that the ear pads are assembled by glue which appears to not be applied properly – after 11 or so months the pads have begun to split open (see attached image), with philips surprisingly disinterested in acknowledging or doing anything about (because i had the headphones replaced, despite the second pair being just about a year old, the warranty was based on an earlier faulty pair, so philips could wash their hands of a warranty service). Irrespective of the sound of these, i would not buy these again and never buy philips headphones because they are clearly not worth the money and will not last, with philips not caring in the slightest once they have got the money from your sale.

  31. 2.0 out of 5 stars Sound quality is not good enough at the price says:

This review is from : Philips M2BTBK Fidelio Wireless Bluetooth Headphone – Black

Sound quality is not good enough at the price. This may mean wireless headphones need more development before they can match a wired pair at the same price. Wireless is an attractive proposition and would have been very convenient for listening whilst walking around the room. I have since purchased a pair of wired headphones [audio technica ath m50x] in the same price range, although rather cheaper. They sound much better and close to what i expect for serious listening. I would still like the convenience of wireless headphones but i had better postpone purchase until they have had more development time.
